RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that Council approve the following:
1. THAT Report CD-47-88 be received; and,
2. THAT the Mayor and Acting Clerk be authorized to execute the appropriate by-laws; and,
3. THAT the Acting Clerk be authorized to carry out all actions necessary to complete
the process of property designation pursuant to the Ontario Heritage Act, 1974, and
detailed within Report CD-47-88.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
On June 13, 1988, Council adopted the report of the General Purpose and Administration
Committee which dealt with the designations of the subject properties as detailed in
Report PD-117-88. The Clerk was authorized to proceed with the designating of the
subject properties as historic properties.
The following actions were carried out:
1. By letters dated August 16, 1988, all property owners were requested to signify
in writing that they were prepared to undertake the designating of their
properties. All consent forms have been executed.
2. Notice of Intention to Designate was forwarded to the owner of the property
and to the Ontario Heritage Foundation by Registered Mail on September 28, 1988.
3. Notice of Intention to Designate was published in the Canadian Statesman once
each week for three successive weeks - September 28, October 5 and October 12, 1988.
2/
Council (cunt'd) . . - 2 - November 7, 1988
4. By-laws to designate the properties pursuant to the Ontario Heritage Act, 1974,
were prepared.
REPORT:
The period for filing objections to the proposed designation ended on October 28, 1988.
No objections were filed either during, or subsequent to the objection period.. Having
regard to the fact that no objections have bee nfiled to the designating of the properties
and the owners have consented to the designating, it is appropriate that the following
actions now be undertaken:
1. That the By-laws to designate the properties be recommended to Council for
passage; and,
2. That the Acting Clerk be authorized to publish Notices of Designation in
the newspaper, and forward a certified copy of the By-laws to the property
owner and to the Ontario Heritage Foundation; and,
3. That a copy of the By-laws designating the properties be forwarded to the
Town's Solicitor for registration on title, so that future owners and anyone
else that may be interested in the properties will be aware of the fact that
they have been designated; and,
4. That the Local Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee (LACAC) be
advised that the properties have been designated.
Respectfully submitted, Recommended for presentation to Council
