BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Council at the meeting of Monday, May 28th 1984, directed that staff explore
the possibility of holding a "Newcastle Night" at the Arbor Theatre, Peterborough.
As directed, staff have explored the subject and would advise, that there are
three remaining dates: Monday, July 2nd
Monday, August 6th
Monday, September 3rd ,

CD-39-84 - 2 - June 18, 1984 '
Members of Committee should make note of the fact that all of the available
dates are Statutory Holidays.
August 6th is the date recommended, because:
(a) July 2nd does not provide sufficient time
to organize the event;
(b) September 3rd preceeds the start of the new
school year, and might find parents involved
in other activities.
If the Committee agrees with the selection of August 6th as "Newcastle Night"
it would be appropriate to authorize staff to advise the Arbor Theatre of the
I fact forthwith, thereby hopefully reserving that night for this Municipality.
