Submitted b . Reviewed bY:O ~Q-~ Franklin Wu, M.C,I.P. Chief Administrative Officer PLB*hk 1112 "-" , ~. REPORT NO.: CLO-QS-Q2 PAGE 2 REPORT Some years ago, a page program was implemented. This program consisted of two gin guides attending the Council meeting with the Clerk to assist with collection and distribution of material to the Members of Council. In an effort to resurrect the program, Bowmanville High School was contacted to determine if the program might be incorporated as part of the Civics class. This is a mandatory class for Grade 10 students which teaches the students about democracy, the election system and the services that are available to citizens federally, provincially and locally. The teachers were excited about the prospect. Because of the large number of students enrolled in the class each semester, it has been decided that the best way to implement the program is for the interested students to complete an interview. Those students chosen will attend one or two General Purpose and Administration Meetings to serve as pages. The students will be supplied with copies of the agenda in advance of the meeting and will have an opportunity to discuss the meeting with the Clerk prior to and/or following the meeting. The program will be implemented during the second semester of the school year, which begins in February 2002. Following the school year, a review of the program will be undertaken to determine its success.
