REGION OF DURHAM CO-OPERATIVE TENDER
Subject: T207-931 CATCHBASIN CLEANING
Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1 . THAT Report TR-31-93 be received;
2 . THAT Tel-Eye Services, Pickering, Ontario, with a total
bid in the amount of $14,630. 00 (Option 2) , plus
G.S.T. , being the lowest responsible bidder meeting all
terms, conditions and specifications of the Region of
Durham Co-Operative Tender T207-93, be awarded the
contract for Catchbasin Cleaning, Option 2, as required
by the Department of Public Works; and
3 . THAT the funds be drawn from the Public Works approved
Catchbasin Maintenance Account #7207-00431-X.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Tenders were called on a co-operative basis by the Region of
Durham, which included the requirements of the Town of Newcastle,
for Catchbasin Cleaning. Tenders were received and tabulated as
follows:

After further review and analysis of the bids by Purchasing and Public
Works staff, it was agreed that Tel-Eye Services, Pickering, Ontario,
be recommended for the contract for catchbasin cleaning, Option 2, in
the Town of Newcastle, as required by the Department of Public Works.
For the information of Council, in previous years the Town of
Newcastle requirements have been contracted out based on informal
quotations being submitted rather than a tender. However, due to the
quantity requiring cleaning in 1993, a tender issue was required.
The required funds will be drawn from the Public Works Catchbasin
Maintenance account #7207-00431-X, from which there are adequate funds
available.
The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs with
the recommendation. Queries with respect to department needs,
specifications, etc . , should be referred to the Director of Public
Works .
The subject contractor has previously supplied satisfactory service to
the Town of Newcastle.
