NOVEMBER 21, 1983.

SUBJECT: REPORT WITH RESPECT TO AMENDING TOWN OF NEWCASTLE BY-LAW 78-38
(PLACES OF AMUSEMENT BY-LAW)
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. That this report be received; and
2. That the report recommending the amending of Town of Newcastle
By-law 78-38, be adopted;. and
3. That the amending By-law be forwarded-to Council for approval .

BACKGROUND'AND' COMMENT:
By-law Number 78-38, provides for the licensing and regulating places of
amusement within the Town of Newcastle. Section 3(a) of By-law 78-38,
provides that every person who requires a licence under the provisions of
this By-law, shall make an application therefore in the form attached as
Schedule "A" and in Section 4(.a) persons previously li.cenced are required
to make application for renewal of the licence on the form attached to
By-law 78-38 and identified as Schedule "B".
As part of the ongoing review of the municipality's licensing activities,
By-law Number 78-38 has been reviewed and as a first step in this review
process, the application forms Schedules "A" and "B" have been revised.
The revised application form, consolidates the original application form and
the renewal form into a single form and at the same time, makes the application
part of a statutory declaration.

If the Committee concurs with the new form, it is recommended, that
the Committee forward the attached amending By-law to Council for approval .
