REPORT TO THE GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE MEETING OF
MAY 2, 1983.

SUBJECT: REQUEST BY MR. AND MRS. BERNARD MELANSON, 1135 LOBELIA COURT,
'OSHAWA, ONTARIO, TO OCCUPY A MOBILE HOME DURING THE CONSTRUCTION
OF A NEW RESIDENTIAL DWELLING.
RECOMMENDATION:
1. That this report be received; and
2. That the application be approved, and that the applicants obtain all of the
necessary- permits and zoning .clearances from the Planning Department; and
3. That the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to execute the standard agreement
with the applicants, authorizing the use of a mobile home as a temporary
residence on site, for a period not exceeding six months.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Melanson, 1135 Lobelia Court, Oshawa, have by letter dated
April 22, 1983, requested that Council give consideration to, and grant
permission to them to locate a mobile home for use as a temporary residence, on
to the construction site. Mr. and Mrs. Melanson advise, that they have
purchased a building lot in the former Township of Darlington, situated in
the north half of Lot 23, Concession 3, being 3.82 acres in area.
The Melanson's indicate, that their new home will be completed by July 1983,
and during construction they wish to live on site for two reasons;
(a) They will be doing a lot of the work themselves and living there
would be convenient;
(b) Being on site would reduce the potential for vandalism.

The Planning Department indicates, that they have no objection to the
approval of the application, subject to the applicants complying with the
Town's requirements with respect to building permits, zoning clearances,
and a clear understanding that the approval is only for a six month period.
