REPORT TO MAYOR G. B. RICKARD AND MEMBERS OF COUNCIL
CD-50-82 - OUR FILE: 35.72.2.
SUBJECT: ANNUAL A.M.O. CONFERENCE, ROYAL YORK HOTEL, TORONTO
AUGUST 22ND TO AUGUST 25TH 1982
On June 14th 1982, a report respecting the subject conference was submitted
to Committee (CD-33-82) with the recommendation that:
1. Council appoint four voting delegates;
2. The Clerk forward a certified registration form to A.M.O.
listing the voting delegates.
A further resolution #GPA-746-82 directed that Councillors advise the Clerk
of their intention to attend the conference by June 21st 1982.
The matter of representation was raised on at least two subsequent occasions,
the last being the General Purpose and Administration Committee Meeting of
July 12th 1982, when it was determined that the delegates should be three
Members of Council and the Administrator or his alternate. To date, I have
been informed by Councillors Prout and Taylor that they will be attending as
voting delegates for the Town of Newcastle. No other member of Council has
indicated a desire to attend the conference on behalf of the Town.
We are now in the situation where Council must pass a resolution authorizing
the attendance of the persons named as voting delegates and have the certified
documents in the A.M.O. Offices not later than July 31st 1982. Accommodation
applications must be made through A.M.O. and the deadline for reservations is
July 23rd 1982.

It is respectfully requested, that members of Council now pass a resolution
naming the following persons as Official Voting Delegates for the Town of
Newcastle.
1. Councillor Maurice Prout
2. Councillor R. Bruce Taylor
3. Town Administrator, Donald N. Smith
