REPORT TO THE GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE MEETING OF

SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR PERMISSION TO HOLD A DRAW AND SELL
RAFFLE LOTTERY TICKETS IN THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. That this report be received; and
2. That the University Women's Club of Oshawa's request for
permission to sell Raffle. Lottery Tickets and hold the draw
In the Town of Newcastle be approved; and
3, That the Clerk of the City of Oshawa be advised that the
Town of Newcastle has no objection to the issuing of a
Raffle Lottery Licence by the City of Oshawa to the
University Women's Club of Oshawa.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
By letter dated June 14th 1982, the City Clerk, City of Oshawa advised, that
an application for a Raffle Lottery Licence had been received from the University
Women' s Club of Oshawa. He reported, that the application had been approved by
Durham Regional Police,but because the draw was to be held in this jurisdiction,
the City of Oshawa would not issue the licence to the applicant until the Town
of Newcastle. hqd _re_v_iewed the appl_i cation and given its_its approval ,
Staff have reviewed the application and would recommend that Council approve
the request to hold the draw and sell tickets in the Town of Newcastle.
