REPORT TO COUNCIL MEETING OF APRIL 26TH 1982

SUBJECT: CONSIDERATION OF AN APPLICATION FOR A
1982 REFRESHMENT VEHICLE LICENCE
MR.. GERRIT VAN DE BUNTE AND MRS. BETTY CUNNINGHAM
RECOMMENDATION:
1. That this report be received; and
2. That Council authorize the issuing of a Refreshment Vehicle
Licence to the applicants.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Mr. Van De Bunte and Mrs. Cunningham submitted an application for a
Refreshment Vehicle Licence on April 19th 1982. The applicants also
submitted a letter from the Durham Regional Health Unit dated
April 2nd 1982 which indicated that the Regional Health Unit had no
objection to the issuing of a Refreshment Vehicle Licence.
The Newcastle Fire Department by memorandum dated April 20th 1982,
advised that the propane appliances and equipment installation meet
their requirements.
This Department would recommend the application to Council for their
consideration and approval .

Dear .Sir and'Madam:
This letter will confirm my inspection of the above proposed premises,
on March 31 , 1982. Please be advised that the vehicle must comply with the
Food Premises Regulation (i'.e. , Ontario Regulation 840/80, as amended)'.' In
this regard the. following requirements are brought to your attention:
1. All openings in the vehicle, which will be left open during food service,
(i .e. , serving windows, partition between drivers. compartment, doors , etc. )
must be adequately .screened in order to prevent the entrance of insects.
2. Sufficient garbage containers , equipped with tight-fitting lids, must be
provided in and outside the vehicle.
3. An accurate indicating thermometer is required in. the refrigerator and must
be installed in a location where it may be easi.ly read.
4. Ensure that the walls, floor and ceilin are properly finished, (i .e. ,
washable, tight-fitting, 'smooth surface.
5. A sufficient supply of moist hand towelettes must be provided for hand-
washing purposes.

Based on your assurance that the aforementioned requirements will be ! �
met within, thirty (30) days, this Department offers no objections to the lic-
ensing of the vehicle.
