REPORT NO.: ESD 018-02 PAGE 2 BACKGROUND AND COMMENT 1. BACKGROUND 1.1 Our report covers the month of August, 2002. It is our intent to provide Committee with information relevant to this department, in a timely manner. 2. REPORT 2.1 The department responded to 254 calls in August and recorded total fire loss at $536,155.00. A breakdown of calls responded to follows in the table attached. Substantial loss was sustained ($500,000) in the East Side Mario fire on August 01, 2002. The majority of damage was to the electrical room and electrical system. *Standbv As indicated in the table attached, Station 1 volunteer firefighters were activated six times. Four while Pumper 1 and Pumper 4 responded to emergency calls, once for training and once due to mechanical repairs to Pumper 1.
