SUBJECT: APPLICATION FOR APPROVAL OF A TAXI DRIVER'S
PERMIT - PATRICK ALLAN SHEEHAN (IN CAMERA)

RECOMMENDATION:
1. For the consideration of Council
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
The applicant, Mr. Patrick Allan Sheehan, applied for a taxi drivers licence
on November 6, 1981. The application was discussed with Durham Regional
Police and on the basis of the discussion a temporary permit was issued.
Subsequently a written report dated January 7, 1982 was received from
Durham Regional Police with the recommendation, that the licence not be
approved.
On January 14, 1982, the By-law Enforcement Officer discussed the application
with Mr. Sheehan and advised him that his application had not been approved by
Durham Regional Police and accordingly, the temporary licence would be revoked,
and a permanent licence would not be issued.
Mr. Sheehan was advised, that he could appeal to Council for a reconsideration
of the licence in accordance with the provisions of by-law 74-72 as amended.
Mr. Sheehan submitted a letter dated January 15, 1982 requesting that Council
review and approve his application for a taxi drivers licence. The application
is now being submitted to Council for consideration "in camera"
