SUBJECT: TENDER NO. T87-28, PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration
Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. That this report be received; and
2. That Henderson Recreation Equipment Limited, Norwich, Ontario, with
a total bid of $11,804.57, being the lowest responsible bidder
meeting all terms, conditions and specifications of Tender No. T87-28
be awarded the contract, forthwith, to supply, deliver and install
various pieces of playground equipment to the Town of Newcastle as
required by the Department of Community Services; and
3. That the funds in the amount of $11,804.57 be drawn from the 1987
approved Community Services Capital budget.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
A tender was publicly advertised and invited for the supply, deliver and
installation of various pieces of playground equipment as required by the
Department of Community Services.

The total bid price of $11,804.57 is well within the $24,750.00 provided for
these two (2) parks in the 1987 approved Community Services Capital budget.
Already committed from this account is approximately $3,000.00 worth of equip-
ment that was not included in this tender due to the uniqueness of the items.
Due to a twenty-eight (28) day delivery on the equipment, it is recommended that
the contract be awarded forthwith.
After review and analysis of the bids by both Purchasing and Community Services
it was mutually agreed that the low bid from Henderson Recreation Equipment
Limited, Norwich, Ontario, be recommended for the tender award. In past years
the subject firm have satisfactorily provided equipment to the Town of
Newcastle.
