T87-20, TRIPLE COMBINATION 1050 I.G.P.M. FIRE DEPARTMENT PUMPER RECOMMENDATIONS: It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee recommend to Council the following: 1. That this report be received; and 2. That Superior Emergency Equipment Limited, Red Deer, Alberta, with a total bid in the amount of $169,500.00, being the lowest responsible bidder meeting all terms, conditions and specifications of Tender No. T87-20, be awarded the contract for the supply and delivery of a 1987 Triple Combination 1050 I.G.P.M. Pumper, as required by the Fire Department; and 3. That funds in the amount of $150,000.00, be drawn from the approved 1987 Fire Department Capital Budget; and 4. That the additional funds required in the amount of $19,500.00 be drawn from the Fire Department Reserve Account. BACKGROUND AND COMMENT: A tender was publicly advertised and invited for the supply and delivery of a 1987 Triple Combination 1050 I.G.P.M. FIRE DEPARTMENT PUMPER Tenders were received and tabulated as follows: Bidder Did Amount Delivery Superior Emergency Equipment Limited ¢169,500.00 100 days Red Deer, Alberta Dependable Emergency Vehicles $159,787.00 250 days Brampton, Ontario Bob Fire Engines & Equipment Ltd. $178,473.00 240 days Abbotsford, British Columbia Almnote Fire Trucks Ltd. ¢186,931.41 210 days &lmoote, Ontario The low bidder, Superior Emergency Equipment supplied the Triple Combination Pumper ordered by the Town of Newcastle in 1985, and it has proven to be a reliable vehicle of exceptional quality and workmanship. As the total funds required in the amount of $169'500.00 is $19,500.00 over the amount approved in the 1987 Fire Department Capital Budget, it is recommended that the additional funds be drawn from the Fire Department Reserve Account. After further review and analysis of the bids by the Fire Department and Purchasing, it was mutually agreed that the low bidder, Superior Emergency Equipment Limited' Bed Deerr, Alberta, be zencmuneudm] for the contract award for the supply and delivery of one (I) only I987 Triple Combination 1050 I.G.P.M. Fire Department Pumper ORIGINATING DEPARTMENT ESTIMATED STARTING DATE ESTIMATED COMPLETION DATE DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORT The tender is over budget by $19,500. I recommend that the additional funds be drawn from the Fire Department Equipment Reserve Account making a total amount charged to the Reserve Account of $119,500.00 APPROVED BUDGET ESIMATE $ 150,000 PRESENT ESTIMATE $ 169,500 DEPARTMENT APPROVAL- June 29, 1987 Signatuj e Date TREASURER'S REPORT I hereby certify that the financing source proposed in Report TR-52-87 is valid and that funds in the amount of $100,000 will be made available from the Fire Department Equipment Reserve Account and $50,000 from the tax levy-as-provided for in the 1987 capital budget. In addition, I recommend that the overexpenditure of $19,500 be drawn from the Fire Department Equipment Reserve. The balance in this account as at June 29, 1987 is $211,049.
