SUB,JECT: TENDER NO. T87-11, STREET SWEEPER
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration
Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. That this report be received; and
2. That Amaco Equipment, Mississauga, Ontario, with a total bid in the
amount of $122,515.00, meeting all terms, conditions and specifi-
cations of Tender T87-11, be awarded the contract, forthwith, to
supply and deliver one (1) only Mack MS200P, self-propelled, Vacuum
Street Sweeper, as required by the Town of Newcastle Public Works
Department; and
3. That the funds be expended from the approved 1987 Public Works
Equipment Reserve account.

BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Tenders were publicly advertised and called for the supply and delivery of one
(1) only Street Sweeper, as required by the Department of Public Works. Bidders
were given the option of tendering as follows:
Option "A" Road Sweeper - 4 cu. yd. capacity
Self-propelled
4 wheel type (rear or underbody dumping)
and/or
Option "B" Vacuum Street Sweeper
Self-propelled
Dual Broom
Tenders were received and tabulated in accordance with Schedule "A" attached.
In addition, the two (2) low bidders, Neovac Limited, Scarborough, Ontario and
Amaco Equipment, Mississauga, Ontario, were given the opportunity to demonstrate
their equipment for Public Works staff.
The tenders were reviewed and it was revealed that the low bidder, Neovac
Limited, did not meet the specifications as required by the Department of Public
Works. The deficiencies are indicated in the column entitled "Remarks" in
Schedule "A".
The required funds of $122,515.00 will be drawn from the approved Public Works

Equipment Reserve account from which there are adequate funds available.
As the delivery date of the equipment is thirty (30) days from the date ordered
and as the equipment is required immediately, staff are requesting that the
contract be awarded forthwith.

After further review and analysis of the tenders by both Public Works and
Purchasing staff, it was agreed that Amaco Equipment, Mississauga, Ontario, be
recommended for the contract award to supply and deliver one (1) only Vacuum
Street Sweeper, as tendered.
