SUB,JECT: STAFFING - FINANCE DEPARTMENT
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended:
1. That Report TR-18-87 be received; and
2. That the non-union position of Systems Manager be established; and
3. That staff be authorized to proceed forthwith, to fill the position.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
The implementation of a new computer system and subsequent installation of
communication devices to permit total useage by all Departments dictates an
urgent need to establish the position of Systems Manager.
This individual will supervise the entire operation of the computer system
including scheduling jobs to be run, monitoring operations to make sure the
system runs efficiently, plan, implement and make revisions to software
applications already acquired and develop new programs unique to the Town's
needs.

STAFFING - FINANCE DEPARTMENT
The Systems Manager will form the much needed critical interface between senior
staff and the users. All Departments expect to utilize the computer and in
order to maintain a system of this magnitude, it is necessary to have an
individual available full-time who is capable of developing programs in house,
enhance existing programs and supervise the computer system.
