GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE DATE: December 1 , 1986 REPORT #: FILE #:TR 100 86 SMECT: COMMERCIAL LEASE AGREEMENT MATTHEWS AND ASSOCIATES INSURANCE BROKERS LTD. ORONO HYDRO ELECTRIC BUILDING RECOMMENDATIONS: It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee recommend to Council the following: /1 06'V% 1 . That this reportibe received; and 2. That the necessary By-Law be passed, authorizing the Mayor and Clerk to sign a rental agreement with Matthews and Associates Insurance Brokers Ltd. ; and 3. That Matthews and Associates Insurance Brokers Ltd. be advised of Councils actions. BACKGROUND AND COMMENT: Matthews and Associates Insurance Brokers Ltd. currently lease office space in the Orono Hydro Electric Building at a monthly rate of $401 .31 . As in the past, a two (2) year lease is proposed with a 5% increase each of the two (2) years. A 5% increase in the montly rental from $401 .31 to $421 .38 effective January 1 , 1987 and to $442.45 effective January 1 , 1988, was suggested in a letter dated November 5, 1986 to Mr. Gary Harris. Staff have been advised that the proposed increase is acceptable to Matthews and Associates Insurance Brokers Ltd. See Schedule "A" and "B" attached. Page - 2 - Tr-100-86 COMMERCIAL LEASE AGREEMENT MATTHEWS AND ASSOCIATES INSURANCE BROKERS LTD. ORONO HYDRO ELECTRIC BUILDING The current lease expires on December 31 , 1986 and staff respectfully recommends that the proposed rental agreement be accepted. Harris : Re : Commercial Lease Agreement Orono Hydro Electric Building Please be advised that the above commercial Lease Agreement expires on December 31 , 1986 . With the concurrence of Matthews and Associates Insurance Brokers Ltd . , I will put this matter forward to Council with a rental increase of 5% per year, for a two (2) year lease . This will raise the monthly rate to $421 . 38 effective January 1 , 1987 and $442 . 45 effective January 1 , 1988. If you have any questions with respect to this lease , please give me a call .
