RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee
recommend to Council the following:
1 . That this report be received; and
2. That London Machinery Limited, London, Ontario, with a total bid of
$24,476.25, being the lowest responsible bidder, meeting all terms,
conditions and specifications of Tender T86-21 , be awarded the contract
to supply one ( 1 ) 6 cubic yard and two (2) 12 cubic yard Salt and Sand
Spreader Bodies as required by the Town of Newcastle; and
3. That the funds be drawn from the Public Works Equipment reserve.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
A tender was publicly advertised and invited for the supply of one ( 1 ) 6 cubic yard and
two (2) 12 cubic yard Salt and Sand Spreader Bodies, as required by the Department of
Public Works.
Bids were received and tabulated as follows:

The required funds will be drawn from the Public Works Equipment Reserve, frcm which
there are adequate funds available. The balance in this account as of September 29, 1986,
was $294,990.00.
After review of the bids by Purchasing and Public Works , it was mutually agreed that the
low bid from London Machinery Limited, London, Ontario, be recommended for the Tender
award. London Machinery Limited are a reputable company who have assured staff that all
equipment purchased will be to our exact specifications.
