SUB,JECT: TENDER NO. T86-22, BOWMANVILLE ARENA REPAIRS
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended to Council the following:
1 . That this report be received; and
2. That Gerr Construction Limited, Bowmanville, Ontario, with a bid in the
amount of $38,000,00, being the lowest responsible bidder meeting all
terms, conditions and specifications of Tender No. T86-22, be awarded
the contract for the Bowmanville Arena Repairs; and
3. That the funds be drawn from the 1986 Operating Surplus per Resolution
#C-502-86 via charging related costs to the Bowmanville Arena
Building Construction/Renovations Account #7606-0501-0000.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Tender specifications were provided by Totten Sims Hubicki Associates, for the Bowmanville
Arena Repairs. Initially, Tender No. T86-18 was issued with a closing date of August 21 ,
1986. Tenders were advertised in all area papers. Due to the extremely busy construction
season and also due to the fact that the repairs were required to be completed prior
to the opening of the arena, there were no bids submitted.
Subsequently, Tender No. T86-22 was issued with a closing date of September 12, 1986.
The requested completion date for the repairs was October 31 , 1986. The Tender was again
advertised in all area papers with bids being received and tabulated as follows :

After review and analysis of the bids by Community Services, Totten Sims Hubicki
Associates and Purchasing , it was mutually agreed that the low bidder, Gerr Construction
Limited, Bowmanville, Ontario, be awarded the contract for the Bowmanville Arena Repairs.
The total bid price of $38,000.00 is within the approved limit of $40,000.00.
The subject firm has in the past worked with satisfaction for the Town of Newcastle.
