By-Law # METING: GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE MEETING DATE: September 2, 1986 REPORT #: TR-68-86 FILE #: SUB,JECT: REGION OF DURHAM CO-OPERATIVE TENDER WD73-86, SUPPLY AND DELIVERY OF WINTER SAND RECOMMENDATIONS: It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee recommend to Council the following : 1 . That this report be received; and 2. That Gerald Finlay Construction Limited, Baltimore, Ontario , with a total bid in the amount of $64,400.00, being the lowest responsible bidder meeting all terms, conditions and specifications of the Region of Durham Co-Operative Tender WD73-86, be awarded the contract to supply, deliver, mix and stockpile winter sand, as required by the Town of Newcastle for the 1986/87 winter season; and 3. That the funds be drawn from the Public Works approved Winter Maintenance accounts for the 1986/87 winter season requirements. BACKGROUND AND COMMENT: Tenders were called on a co-operative basis by the Region of Durham which included the requirements for the supply and delivery of winter sand. The following tenders were received and tabulated as follows: BIDDER TOTAL BID ( Includes cost to mix and stockpile in Domes) Gerald Finlay Construction $64,400.00 Baltimore, Ontario Harnden & King Construction (Ontario) Limited $70,940.00 Cobourg , Ontario U/ E << ) Page - 2 - TR-68-86 REGION OF DURHAM CO-OPERATIVE TENDER WD73-86, SUPPLY AND DELIVERY OF WINTER SAND 518824 Ontario Ltd. $95,720.00 o/a Dunn Sand & Gravel Orono , Ontario Highland Creek Sand & Gravel Co. Limited $15,380.00 (Spec.II does not West Hill , Ontario include cost to mix and stockpile in domes) After review and analysis of the bids by Purchasing and Public Works staff, it was agreed that Gerald Finlay Construction, Baltimore, Ontario, be recommended for the contract to supply and deliver Winter Sand to the Town of Newcastle, as required by the Department of Public Works. The required funds will be drawn from the Public Works approved Winter Maintenance accounts for the 1986/87 winter season requirements, from which there are adequate funds available.
