By-Law # MEETING: Council Meeting DATE: July 28, 1986 REPORT #: TR-62-86 FILE #: HANDOUT SU&JECT: TENDER NO_ T86-16 - COLD MIXED OPEN GRADED BITUMINIOUS PAVEMENT RECOMMENDATIONS: It is respectfully recommended to Council the following: 1 . That report no. TR-62-86 be received; and 2. That Miller Paving Limited, Unionville, Ontario, with a total bid in the amount of $26,100.06 being the lowest responsible bidder meeting all terms, conditions, and specifications of Tender T86-16 be awarded the contract to supply and place Cold Mixed Open Graded Bituminous Pavement as required by the Town of Newcastle; and 3. That the funds expended be drawn from the approved Public Works roads maintenance construction and capital project budgets. . . .2 Council Meeting Page 2 TR-62-86 BACKGROUND AND COMMENT Tenders were publicly advertised and called for the supply and placement of Cold Mixed Open Graded Bituminious Pavement as required by the Department of Public Works. Tenders were invited from the following: Bennett Paving & Materials Limited, Oshawa, Ontario Miller Paving Limited, Unionville, Ontario Harnden & King Construction (Ont.) Ltd., Cobourg, Ontario Royel Paving, Lindsay, Ontario Empire Paving Ltd. , Weston, Ontario Due to the very limited number of contractors who still do this type of paving the only tender submitted was as follows: Bidder Total Bid Miller Paving Limited $26,100.06 Unionville, Ontario . . .3 Council Meeting Page 3 TR-61-86 The required funds are to be drawn from the approved 1986 Public Works roads maintenance, construction and capital projects budgets from which there are adequate funds available. After review and analysis of the tenders by Public Works and Purchasing staff, it was mutually agreed that Miller Paving Limited, Unionville, Ontario be recommended for the contract award to supply and place Cold Mixed Open Graded Bituminous Pavement as tendered. The subject firm performed to the satisfaction of staff on a similar contract issued in 1983 which was the Town's most recent requirement.
