T86-13, 34,000 G.V.W. CAB & CHASSIS AND 1800 GALLON FIRE DEPARTMENT TANKER TRUCK RECOMMENDATIONS: It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee recommend to Council the following : 1 . That this report be received; and 2. That Dependable Emergency Vehicles , Brampton, Ontario, with a total bid in the amount of $ 38,583.00 for Part "A" and $ 23,221 .00 for Part "B" , being the lowest responsible bidder, meeting all terms, conditions and specifications of Tender No. T86-13, be awarded the contract to supply and deliver one (1 ) only 1987 34,000 G.V.W. Cab and Chassis and 1800 Gallon Fire Department Tanker Truck, as required by the Fire Department; and 3. That additional funds in the amount of $ 425.00 be expended for options not included in the amount tendered (3" Float Dock Strainer, 3" strainer for suction hose, to undercoat cabinets, rear fenders , tank belly, tank sills and rear platform) ; and 4. That the total required funds in the amount of $ 62,229.00 be drawn from the approved 1986 Fire Department Capital Equipment budget. BACKGROUND AND COMMENT: Tenders were publicly advertised and invited for the supply and delivery of one ( 1 ) only 1987 34,000 G.V.W. Cab and Chassis (Section A) and the supply and installation of an 1800 Gallon Tanker Truck (Section B) , as required by the Fire Department. Tenders were invited from seven (7) potential Fire Equipment vendors and were received and tabulated as follows : Page - 2 - TR-54-86 TENDER NO. T86-13, 34,000 G.V.W. CAB & CHASSIS AND 1800 GALLON FIRE DEPARTMENT TANKER TRUCK BIDDER BID AMOUNTS SECTION A SECTION B TOTAL Dependable Emergency Vehicles $38,583.00 $23,221 .00 $61 ,804.00 Brampton, Ontario Almonte Fire Trucks Ltd. $40,400.00 $37,980.00 $78,380.00 Almonte, Ontario A third tender was received, however, it was returned unopened to the bidder as it was received after the advertised closing time. The required funds are to be drawn from the Fire Department Capital Equipment budget and are well within the 1986 budget estimate. After review and analysis of the bids by the Fire Chief and Purchasing Agent, it was mutually agreed that the bid from Dependable Emergency Vehicles, Brampton, Ontario, be recommended for the tender award. Dependable Emergency Vehicles are a reliable and reputable vendor who have provided equipment satisfactorily to the Fire Department in the past. Respectfully submitted, J.R. Blanchard, Treasurer. 4 .
