SUBJECT: QUOTATION NO. Q86-8, VEHICLE QUOTATION - COMPACT PICK UP
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee
recommend to Council the following:
1 . That this report be received; and
2. That Cowan Pontiac Buick Ltd. , Bowmanville, Ontario, with a total
bid of $10,553.41 being the lowest responsible bidder meeting all
terms, conditions and specifications of Quotation No. Q86-8 be
awarded the contract to supply and deliver one ( 1 ) only 1986
Compact Pick Up to the Town of Newcastle as required by the Department of
Community Services; and
3. That the funds be drawn from the 1986 approved Community Services capital
budget Account Number 7602-0505-X-0.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
A quotation was publicly advertised and invited for the supply and delivery of one (1 )
only 1986 Compact Pick Up as required by the Department of Community Services. Quotations were
received and tabulated as follows:

QUOTATION NO. Q86-8, VEHICLE QUOTATION - COMPACT PICK UP
The quotations were reviewed and it was revealed that the low bidder did not meet the
specifications as required by the Department of Community Services. The deficiencies
are:
1 . Gross Vehicle Weight 4000 lbs. (4600 lbs. requested)
2. All Season Tires supplied (requested highway tread on front, rear and
spare to be mud/snow)
3. Front Bumper painted black (chrome bumper requested)
4. No Shop Manual and Parts Manual supplied.
After further review and analysis of the bids by Purchasing and Community Services
and as that the vehicle supplied by the second low bidder has a gross vehicle weight
of 4400 lbs. and meets all other specifications, it was mutually agreed that the bid
from Cowan Pontiac Buick Ltd. , Bowmanville, Ontario, be recommended for the quotation
award.
