REPAIRS ORONO TOWN HALL
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administra-
tive Committee recommend to Council the following:
1 . That report TR-9-86 be received; and
2. That the cost of repairs to the Orono Town hall be funded from
the Self Insured Losses Reserve.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS:
On November 4, 1985, the Orono Town Hall sustained wind damage which
resulted in shingles being blown off the roof. This permitted rain to
seep into the interior of the building damaging the hardwood floor.
An estimate to repair same has been received from Adanac Restoration
Specialists and to clean the floor and rebuff would cost $428.75. In the
event the floor does not respond to cleaning, it would then be necessary

to sand and refinish at a cost of $1 ,972.25. As stated in the quote, when
weather permits an estimate will be provided to repair the roof. Further, on
December 27, furnace problems occurred which resulted in the water pipes
freezing causing water damage to the basement area. At that time, Mr. Partner
was called to repair the pipes at a cost of $300. 18. Another quote was
received from Adanac Restorative Specialists to repair the basement office
area at a cost of $834.30.
These claims are below the Town's deductible limit of $10,000 and are
therefore eligible for monies out of the self Insured Losses Reserve.

Further to our previous telephone conversations, enclosed
please find the estimate from Adanac Restoration Specialists re
the wand and water damage done to the Orono Town Hall on November
4, 19850 Please note the reference to the estimate on the roof.
Please find: also attached, the bi.l:l. from Mr. Harvey Partner
(copy) with regards to the furnace problems and resulting water
pipes which froze on December 27, 1985-
Mr. Walton from Adanac Restoration Specialists has again
inspected the Orono Town Hall and a copy of his estimate re= the
damage on December 27, 1985 will be forwarded to you upon receipt
by me.

Interior damages, there is an area of the hardwood floor
which is slightly water stained, an area 35' x 49' .
We would find it necessary to to clean the floor & re-buff 1 . 428. 75 , $ 428.75
As I understand , this is a dance floor, and has no wax
application.

lAs per instructions , we have visited the above
captioned address in reference to water damages, &
find the following:
BASEMENT OFFICE AREA 11 ' x 18'
There are areas of the vinyl asbestos tile floor
that are loose,this is a mastic type tile, 9" x 9"
no longer available.
We would find it necessary to remove the tile from
the floor complete, re-tile the complete floor with
available material , 12" x 12" vinyl asbestos floor the . 1 . 564.30
There is a second area, a meeting room 12' x 19'6 &
12' x 18' , water stains at the acoustic the ceiling,
due to water penetration from above.
Seal all water stains & paint acoustic tile ceiling,
2-coats. 2• 270.00
This concludes our finding. Total : $ 834.30
