REPORT TO GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE MEETING
HELD SEPTEMBER 3, 1985.
REPORT NO. : TR-55-85
SUBJECT: TENDER NO. T85-17 - GRAVEL CRUSHING AND HAULING
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1 . that this report be received; and
2. that Robert Young Construction Limited,
Ennismore, Ontario with a total bid in the
amount of $115,020.00 being the lowest
responsible bidder meeting all terms, conditions,
and specifications of Tender No. T85-17 be
awarded the contract to provide Gravel Crushing
and Hauling as required by the Town of Newcastle;
and
3. that the funds expended be provided from the
approved Public Works roads maintenance construction
budget.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Tenders were publicly advertised and called for the Gravel Crushing
and Hauling contract as required by the Department of Public Works.
The work consists of gravel crushing, hauling, and spreading on
various Town roads. In addition, gravel will be stockpiled,
used for resurfacing projects, shoulder maintenance and be allocated
for numerous requirements. Considering the number of accounts .

involved, staff is unable to specify in detail all the respective
account numbers and amounts. However, sufficient funds have
been provided in the current budget to accommodate these require-
ments.

Unionville, Ontario.
Dunn Sand & Gravel ,
Orono, Ontario.
Bids were received and tabulated as follows :

After review and analysis of the tenders by Public Works and
Purchasing Staff, it was agreed that Robert Young Construction
Ltd. be awarded the contract to provide Gravel Crushing and
Hauling. The subject firm has worked with satisfaction for the
Town of Newcastle in recent years.
