REPORT NO. : TR-53-85
SUBJECT: TENDER NO. T85-14 - HOT MIX ASPHALT RESURFACING
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended to Council :
1. that this report be received; and
2. that Bennett Paving & Materials Limited, Oshawa,
Ontario with a total bid in the amount of
$155,161 .80 being the lowest responsible
bidder meeting all terms, conditions, and
specifications of Tender No. T85-14 be
awarded the contract to supply and place Hot
Mix Asphalt as required by the Town of Newcastle;
and
3. that the funds expended be drawn from the approved
Public Works roads maintenance, construction and
capital project budgets.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Tenders were publicly advertised and called for the supply and
placement of Hot Mix Asphalt as required by the Department of
Public Works.
Tenders were invited from the following:
Bennet Paving & Materials Ltd. ,
Oshawa, Ontario.
Miller Paving Limited,
Unionville, Ontario.
Harnden & King Construction (Ont.) Ltd.,
Cobourg, Ontario.

The only tenders submitted were as follows:

After review and analysis of the tenders by Public Works and
Purchasing staff, it was agreed that Bennett Paving & Materials
Limited, Oshawa, Ontario be awarded the contract to supply and
place Hot Mix Asphalt as tendered.
