REPORT TO COUNCIL MEETING HELD AUGUST 23, 1985.

SUBJECT: TENDER NO. T85-12 - RECONSTRUCTION OF BASELINE ROAD
FROM SIMPSON AVENUE TO MEARNS AVENUE
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended to Council the following:
1 . That this report be received; and
2. That Harnden & King Construction, Cobourg, Ontario
with a bid in the amount of $173,506.09 being the
lowest responsible bidder meeting all terms,
conditions, and specifications of Tender No. T85-12
be awarded the contract for the reconstruction of
Baseline Road from Simpson Avenue to Mearns Avenue,
Bowmanville; and
3. That the funds be drawn from the approved Public
Works budget account #7205-0000-85004 of $300,000.00.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Tender specifications and plans were provided by Totten Sims Hubicki
Associates for the reconstruction of Baseline Road from Simpson
Avenue to Mearns Avenue, Bowmanville as required by the Department
of Public Works. Subsequently tenders were advertised with bids
being received and tabulated as follows:

After review and analysis of the bids by Public Works, Totten
Sims Hubicki Associates, and Purchasing, it was mutually agreed
that the low bidder, Harnden & King Construction, Cobourg,
Ontario, be awarded the contract for reconstruction of Baseline
Road from Simpson Avenue to Mearns Avenue, Bowmanville. The
subject firm has worked with satisfaction for the Town of
Newcastle in recent years.
