REPORT TO THE GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE
MEETING HELD MAY 21 , 1985.
REPORT NO. : TR-36-85
SUBJECT : TENDER NO. T85-8 - BACKHOE LOADER
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. that this report be received; and
2. that Trotter Equipment Ltd. , Peterborough, Ontario
with a net bid of $82,500.00 being the lowest
responsible bidder meeting all terms, conditions,
and specifications of Tender No. T85-8 be awarded the
contract to supply and deliver one only John Deere
Model 710B Backhoe Loader to the Town of Newcastle
as required by the Department of Public Works; and
3. that the funds be drawn from the 1985 approved
Public Works capital equipment budget.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
A tender was publicly advertised and invited for the supply and
delivery of one only 1985 Backhoe Loader as required by the
Department of Public Works.

Tenderswere received and tabulated in accordance with Schedule "A"
attached. The tenders were reviewed and it was revealed that
the two low bidders overall (i.e. net bid as per schedule "A")
did not meet the specifications as required by the Department
of Public Works. The deficiencies are indicated in the column
entitled "Remarks" in Schedule "A".
After further review and analysis of the tenders by the Public
Works and Purchasing staff it was agreed that Trotter Equipment
Ltd. , Peterborough, Ontario be awarded the contract to supply
and deliver one only Backhoe loader, as tendered.
The net purchase price is well within the $100,000.00 budget
provided in the 1985 Capital Forecast.
