REPORT TO THE GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE
MEETING HELD MAY 6 , 1985.
REPORT NO. : TR-31-85
SUBJECT: TENDER No. T85-6 PRIME AND SURFACE TREATMENT
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1 . that this report be received; and
2. that Norjohn Contracting Ltd. , Thorold with
a total bid in the amount of $478,320.00 being
the lowest responsible bidder meeting all terms,
conditions and specifications of Tender No.
T85-6 be awarded the contract to supply and
apply Prime and Surface Treatment to various
roads as required by the Town of Newcastle; and
3. that the funds expended be provided from the
approved Public Works roads material maintenance
budget.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Tenders were publicly advertised and called for the supply and
application of Prime and Surface Treatment as required by the
Department of Public Works. Tenders were received and tabulated
as follows:

After review and analysis of the tender by Public Works and
Purchasing it was agreed that Norjohn Contracting Ltd. , Thorold
be awarded the contract to prime and surface treat town roads
as required. Norjohn Contracting Ltd. is an established
reputable company which have a proven record with the Town of
Newcastle.
