REPORT TO GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE MEETING
HELD APRIL 15, 1985.
TR - 24 - 85
SUBJECT: TENDER T85-5 - CORRUGATED STEEL PIPE
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration
Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. that this report be received; and
2. that Holt Culvert & Metal Products Ltd. , Peterborough ,
Ontario with a total bid in the amount of $25,716.92
being the lowest responsible bidder meeting all terms,
conditions and specifications of Tender T85-5 be
awarded the contract for the supply and delivery of
Corrugated Steel Pipe Culvert as required for 1985
by the Department of Public Works; and
3. that the funds be drawn from the approved 1985
Culvert Maintenance Construction budget.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT
Tenders were publicly advertised and invited for the supply
and delivery of rivetted corrugated steel pipe culvert as required by the
Department of Public Works for 1985.
The bids were received and tabulated as follows:

The bid from Armco Westeel reflects prices for Helical Culvert
which did not comply with the specifications of the tender. Subsequently,
the low responsible bidder is Holt Culvert & Metal Products Ltd. , Peterborough,
Ontario.
After review and evaluation of the bids by Purchasing and
Public Works, staff recommends that Holt Culvert & Metal Products Ltd. ,
Peterborough be awarded the contract to supply and deliver culvert to the Town
of Newcastle for 1985. The service and performance of Holt Culvert & Metal
Products Ltd. has been acceptable to the Town of Newcastle in the past.
