REPORT TO GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE MEETING
HELD APRIL 15, 1985.

SUBJECT: CALCIUM CHLORIDE REQUIREMENTS - 1985
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration
Committee recommend to Council the following:
1 . that this report be received; and
2. that Miller Paving Ltd. , Unionville, Ontario with a
unit price of .1217 per litre and $198.34 per tonne
for 35 percent Liquid Calcium Chloride Solution and
bulk calcium chloride respectively being the lowest
responsible bidder meeting all terms and specifications
of the Region of Durham Co-op Tender No. WD6-85 be
awarded the contract to supply and apply calcium
chloride, as required by the Town of Newcastle Public
Works Department; and
3. that Canada Transport Limited, Belleville, Ontario
with a unit price of $278.59/tonne for bulk calcium
chloride being the lowest responsible bidder meeting
all terms and specifications of the Region of Durham
Co-op Tender No. WD6-85 be awarded the portion of
the contract to supply and deliver approximately
5,000 tonnes to the Hampton and Orono Yards, as required
by the Town of Newcastle Public Works Department; and
4. that the funds expended be drawn from the 1985 budget
allocation for Public Works Road Maintenance.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT
The Town of Newcastle joined the Region of Durham on a co-operative
basis to tender for the supply and application of calcium chloride products.
The bids were tabulated as follows:
