REPORT TO THE GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE MEETING OF
FEBRUARY 18, 1985
REPORT NO. : TR-10-85
SUBJECT: CONTRACT - REGIONAL RECLAIMERS
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council that this report be
received for consideration.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT
The Town has a one year contract with Regional Reclaimers Limited
for refuse collection and disposal in the Orono and Newcastle Areas.
We have recently been informed (February 11th 1985 letter attached) ,
that Browning Ferris Industries Limited has bought a portion of
Regional Reclaimers Limited' s business.
The letter is requesting the assignment of our existing contract to
BFI effective February 1st 1985. Since this contract was awarded by
tender, Staff are seeking Council ' s approval for such action.
Our review of the tender agreement does not reveal any prohibition
of an assignment of the contract, if approved by Council .
