ONTAR|O L1onAn REPORT TO THE GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE MEETING OF DECEMBER 3, 1984 REPORT NU. : TR-98-84 3UBJECT:REN[WAL OF CONTRACT FOR COMPUTER SERVICES ' RECOMMENDATION: It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee r8CON08Od t0 Council the following: 1. That this report be received, and 2. That the contract with Real Time DataprO Limited for CO0pUt8r services be approved for the period January l3t 1985 t0 December 31st 1980. 3. That the by-law t0 authorize the execution Of the ' contract be prepared by the Clerk. BACKGROUND AND COMMENT: The existing contract for computer services expires December 31st 1984. Since NS are unable to consider an iOhoUSe system, at this time, due to Space and housing restraints Staff recommend vie C0OtiDUe with the existing service for D further 2 year period. This represents a 6% overall increase, the first such increase in 3 years. Staff do not anticipate any major 8OhaDc80eDtS being acquired for this system during the next 2 years. Areas which would 0� lob, �� - Z _ TR-98-84 RENEWAL OF CONTRACT FOR COMPUTER SERVICES WITH REAL TIME DATAPRO - JAN. 1/85 TO DEC. 31/86 benefit from computerization such as the Public Works design area, the Public works maintenance management, the Fire Department building information and the Planning Department cross index of files ( subdivision, zoning , Committee of Adjustments, building permits, etc .) are not enhancements which are readily available or compatible with the existing configuration of programs. These computer applications might better be served by stand alone units or by an inhouse system, which is inherently more flexible than the service bureau approach.
