REPORT TO THE GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE MEETING
HELD NOVEMBER 5, 1984

SUBJECT: TENDER T84-19, SNOW CLEARING & WINTER MAINTENANCE OF SIDEWALKS & PARKING
LOTS
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended;
1 . that this report be received; and
2. that Fairway Property Maintenance Ltd. , Bowmanville, Ontario with a
bid in the amount of $491 .00 per call out being the lowest responsible
bidder meeting all terms, conditions, and specifications of Tender
T84-19 be awarded the contract to provide snow clearing and winter
maintenance to sidewalks and parking lots as required by the Town of
Newcastle for the 1984/85 winter season; and
3. that the funds expended be drawn from the 1984 and 1985 Public
Works Winter Maintenance budget.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT
Tenders were publicly adverised and called for the snow clearing and
winter maintenance of sidewalks and parking lots within the Town of Newcastle
as required by the Department of Public Works.
Tenders were received and tabulated as follows:

The above tendered amounts reflect the total cost to snow clear, sand
and salt all the locations specified in the tender for one time only. The locations
as tendered, are indicated on Schedule "A" attached.

It was agreed by Purchasing and Public Works that Fairway Property
Maintenance, Bowmanville, Ontario be awarded the contract to provide winter
maintenance of sidewalks and parking lots, as tendered.
Recommendation of the low bidder represents a substantial cost saving
in relation to the previous years.
