BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS:
As Committee is aware the Town operates a transit
service for handicapped personswithin the Town of Newcastle
through a contractor located in Oshawa. This service has been pro-
vided since September of 1981 and has proven to be a very well
received and utilized service by the handicapped residents of the
Town.
The agreement, as presented, by the lawyers for
Handi Transit Incorporated meets the requirements of the Ministry of
Transportation and Communications for transit services for handi-
capped persons. The term of this agreement is two years ending in
December 31, 1985 and then be continued on a monthly basis until a
new contract is signed or until cancelled on thirty days notice by
either party.
The Town requires the execution of this agreement as
soon as possible to allow the Ministry of Transportation and
Communications to release the approved subsidy funds for 1983 and
1984 to the Town for this transit operation.
Respectfully submitted,
r Kathryn A. Campbell , C.A. , B.Comm. ,
Treasurer
