That the report be received, and 2. That the attached agreement, between the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle and Newcastle Nandi Transit Incorporated be approved, and 3. That the necessary bylaw to execute this agreement be prepared by the Clerk's Department. 4. That a copy of the executed agreement be forwarded to the Ministry of Transportation and Communica- tions, Transit Office, 120 Wilson Avenue, 3rd Floor West Tower, Downsview M3M 1J8 Attention: Mr. Peter Leylan. 5. That a copy of the executed agreement be forwarded to Handi Transit Incorporated, P.O. Box 1278, Station B, Oshawa, Ontario L1S 5Z1 6. That a copy of the executed agreement be forwarded to Aitchison, Starzynski , Evans and Bolotenko, 115 Simcoe Street South, P.O. Box 978, Oshawa, Ontario L1H 7N2 Attention: Mr. James N. Aitchison. i I - 2 - , 3C�� BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS: As Committee is aware the Town operates a transit service for handicapped personswithin the Town of Newcastle through a contractor located in Oshawa. This service has been pro- vided since September of 1981 and has proven to be a very well received and utilized service by the handicapped residents of the Town. The agreement, as presented, by the lawyers for Handi Transit Incorporated meets the requirements of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications for transit services for handi- capped persons. The term of this agreement is two years ending in December 31, 1985 and then be continued on a monthly basis until a new contract is signed or until cancelled on thirty days notice by either party. The Town requires the execution of this agreement as soon as possible to allow the Ministry of Transportation and Communications to release the approved subsidy funds for 1983 and 1984 to the Town for this transit operation.
