SUBJECT: INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR LOCAL BOARD MEMBERS
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. That this report be received for consideration.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Attached is a letter from the Tyrone Community Hall Board with
a request for insurance coverage for its additional board
members. The request was denied because current Council policy
states that insurance coverage shall be extended to five board
members on each local board which is appointed by Council .
This insurance coverage has been discussed on numerous
occasions and a recommendation was previously made to
discontinue this coverage.
Staff have contacted Frank Cowan Insurance and been
advised that the additional cost to include more than the five
members per local board would be $7.00 per additional member.
