REPORT TO COUNCIL MEETING OF JANUARY 23, 1984

SUBJECT: ORONO ARMOURIES - FURNACE REPAIRS
(ITEM #35 - COUNCIL REPORT 41 - GPA MINUTES)
RESOLUTION #GPA-113-84
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that this report be received for
information.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS:
Subsequent to the General Purpose & Administration
Committee meeting held on January 16, 1984, additional
information on the repair and clean-up costs on the Orono
Armouries furnace has been received.(see attached)
One of the attachments is a quotation from Harvey
Partner in the amount of $2,260 for the repair of the furnace.
This amount is to be included in the 1984 budget, as approved
by Committee on January 16, 1984.
The other attachment is a quotation from Clement &
Associates, in the amount of $1,486.20 for clean-up and
restoration services of the building. This cost can be funded
out of the Self-Insured Losses Reserve, as it is below the
deductible limit Town insurance. Staff find the cost of this
service is $1,486.20 and not $600.00, as staff was given to
understand from prior discussions.

Further discussions with our Insurance Adjuster, L.V. Walker &
Associates, have confirmed to staff that the quotation for the
clean-up and restoration of the Orono Armouries is reasonable.
Since the Town has tennants in the building, they suggest that
once approval has been given, we proceed with the work as soon
as possible.
