REPORT TO GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE MEETING

SUBJECT: TENDER T83-24, PETROLEUM PRODUCTS (BULK GASOLINE AND DIESEL FUEL)
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended :
1 . that this report be received; and
2. that Esso Petroleum Canada, Don Mills , Ontario, with a unit price bid of
$.377 per litre and $.372 per litre for the bulk supply of No. 2 Leaded GasolinE
and No. 1 Diesel Fuel respectively, being the lowest responsible bidder
meeting terms , conditions and specifications of Tender T83-24 be awarded the
contract to supply bulk petroleum products to the Town of Newcastle; and
3. that the funds expended be provided by the 1984 current operating fleet
budgets.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT
Tenders were publicly advertised and called for the supply and delivery of bulk
leaded gasoline and diesel fuel as required by the Department of Public Works for storage
tank facilities at three Town of Newcastle depot locations; Orono , Hampton , and Bowmanville.
The tenders were opened and tabulated as per attached Schedule "A".
After tabulating and reviewing the bids by staff, it was agreed that Esso
Petroleum Canada, be awarded the contract to supply and deliver bulk leaded gasoline and
diesel fuel to the Town of Newcastle.
The prices proposed reflect a decrease from current costs as follows :
Leaded gasoline $.385 per litre and Diesel Fuel $.382 per litre.
