SUBJECT: TENDER T83-17, CONSTRUCTION OF STORM SEWERS - WELLINGTON STREET &
BASELINE ROAD, BOWMANVILLE
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended:
1 . that this report be received; and
2. that William Hollingworth & Sons Ltd. , Gormley, Ontario with a bid
of $82,910.00 for the construction of storm sewers on Wellington Street
and Baseline Road, Bowmanville being the lowest responsible bidder
meeting all terms, conditions , and specifications of Tender T83-17
be awarded the contract to construct storm sewers on Wellington Street
and Baseline Road, Bowmanville for the Town of Newcastle and
3. that the funds expended be drawn from accounts 7205-0000-00561 and
7301-0000-11 .
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT
Tenders were publicly advertised and called for the construction of
storm sewers on Wellington Street and Baseline Road, Bowmanville; as required by
the Department of Public Works. Tenders received are tabulated on Schedule A attached.
After review and analysis of the bids by Public Works; Totten , Sims,
Hubicki Associates; and Purchasing, it was decided that William Hollingworth & Sons
be awarded the contract to construct storm sewers on Wellington Street and
Baseline Road, Bowmanville for the Town of Newcastle.
The tendered bid amount by William Hollingworth & Sons is within the
current budget allocation for the two projects. William Hollingworth & Sons
constructed the storm sewers on Baseline Road , Bowmanville in 1982 and the Town was
well satisfied with that work and does not hesitate to offer this contract to them.
