HomeMy WebLinkAboutTR-72A-83 W,5 CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE 40 TEMPERANCE STREET BOWMANVILLE, ONTARIO • L1C3A6 TELEPHONE 623-3379 REPORT TO GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE MEETING HELD NOVEMBER 7, 1983 TR - 83 - 72A SUBJECT: AMENDED LEASE AGREEMENT: HARRY LOCKE RECOMMENDATION: It is respectfully recommended: 1 . that this report be received; and 2. that the Mayor and Clerk are hereby authorized to execute on behalf of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle and seal with the Corporation Seal , a lease agreement, between Harry Locke and the Corporation for the property situated at the southwest corner of Martin Road and Highway 2 (Parks and Recreation Depot) ; and 3. that the attached by-law be forwarded to Council for approval . BACKGROUND AND COMMENT An amended offer to lease submitted by Harry Locke for the Parks and Cemeteries facility in Bowmanville was obtained in accordance with a recent request by Council . The previous lease expired on June 30, 1983, with a monthly rate of $700 per month. The negotiated lease specifies a rate of $735 per month for the first year. The Town also has the option to negotiate a further one or two year term immediately after the expiration date of June 30, 1984. I An investigation of local commercial property revealed that the proposed lease rates with Mr. Locke is comparable with other rates charged in the area.
