SUBJECT: ONTARIO HYDRO IMPACT GRANT -
NEWCASTLE PUBLIC LIBRARY
RECOMMENDATION:
1 . That this report be received for information.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
In response to Resolution GPA-736-83 as restated "That the
Library Board confirm in writing how the funds received from
Ontario Hydro were spent", the Library Board has sent the
letter dated September 14 1983, which is attached.

Dear Mr. Oakes:
In response to Council ' s request for information in regard to how the
funds received from Ontario Hydro were spent, we are pleased to inform
you that the money received was applied to the following expenses:
1980 Capital expense $ 2,507
1981 Capital expense 8, 102
1981 Capital expense - books* 8.394
1982 Capital expense 15,997
TOTAL $35,000
Note: This amount is a portion of $11 ,290 over
budget expenditure for books during 1981 .
These amounts are as reported in the respective annual audited Financial
Statements of the Newcastle Public Library Board.
