REPORT TO COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON AUGUST 24, 1983.

SUBJECT: TENDER T83-14, RECONSTRUCTION OF SCUGOG STREET
BOWMANVILLE
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended:
1. That this report be received; and
2. That Lamco Construction Limited, Gormley, Ontario
with a total bid in the amount of $726,110.14 being
the lowest responsible bidder meeting all items,
conditions and specifications of Tender T83-14, be
awarded the contract to "Reconstruct Scugog Street in
Bowmanville as required by the Town of Newcastle.
3. That the funds be expended from the Scugog Street
Reconstruction budget allotment of $300,000.00 in
1983 and $150,000.00 in 1984.
4. That Tender T83-14 be forwarded to the Region of
Durham for its approval on Section II - Watermains
and Section III - Sanitary Sewers.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Tenders were publicly advertised and called for the Reconstruction
of Scugog Street, Bowmanville, as designed and engineered by the
consulting firm of Totten, Sims, Hubicki Associates Limited in
accordance with the Public Works department requirements.
Tenders were received and tabulated in accordance with Schedule
"A" attached.

The municipal portion of the Scugog Street Reconstruction was
budgeted over a two year period at a total budget of $450,000.00.
The tender amount of $355,845.26 for the road reconstruction is
well within the budget and can be accommodated in 1983-1984.
The portion of the reconstruction relating to the Regional works
is subject to their approval , but municipal staff have received
confirmation from the Regional staff that the amounts are within
the budget provided for these works.
After review and analysis of the tender by Public Works and
Treasury Department staff, it was agreed that the tender be
awarded to Lamco Construction Limited, Gromley, Ontario.
