SUBJECT: TENDER WD33-83, REGION OF DURHAM CO-OP TENDER FOR THE SUPPLY OF SODIUM CHLORIDE
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended:
1 . that this report be received; and
2. that The Canadian Salt Company Ltd. , Mississauga with a unit price of $26.01/tonne
(F.O.B. Oshawa Dock) being the lowest responsible bidder meeting all terms,
conditions & specifications of Tender WD33-83 be awarded the contract to supply bulk
sodium chloride to the Town of Newcastle as required by the Department of Public
Works and
3. That the funds be expended from the Public Works winter maintenance accounts as
as provided within the 1983 current budget.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT
Tenders were called on a co-operative basis, by the Regional Municipality of Durham, which
includes the requirements of the Town of Newcastle, for the supply of sodium chloride.
Tenders were received and tabulated as follows :

NOTE: The requirement for the Town of Newcastle was based on approximately 2500 tonnes.
After review & analysis of the tenders by Public Works & Purchasing and recognizing
price increase of 4% from the previous year, it was agreed that the Canadian Salt
Co. Ltd. , Mississauga be awarded the contract to supply sodium chloride to the
