COUNCIL MEETING - APRIL 25, 1983

SUBJECT: TENDER T83-6, NON ASPHALTIC ROAD OIL
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended :
1 . that this report be received; and
2. that Canam Oil Services , Breslau, Ontario with a bid of $83,330.50
being the lowest responsible bidder meeting all terms , conditions
and specifications of Tender T83-6 be awarded the contract to supply and
apply Non Asphaltic Road Oil as required by the Town of Newcastle and
3, that the funds expended be provided from the approved 1983 Public Works
road material maintenance budget.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT
Tenders were publicly advertised and called for the supply and application of
Non-Asphaltic Road Oil as required by the Dppartment of Public Works.
Tenders were received and tabulated in accordance with Schedule "A" attached.
The format of the tender was originally extended on the basis of volume by
litres , ie. with applications costs specified separately. Because the Town of Newcastle
requires the material to be applied by the contractor, the "application rate" must there-
fore be included to determine the total unit application price. This is revealed on the
tabulation schedule in the total column.
Canam Oil Services is an established reputable company which have a proven
record with the Town of Newcastle, as reported by Public Works. In view of the above ,
it was agreed to recommend Canam Oil Services , as tendered.
