REPORT TO THE GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE MEETING
HELD ON JANUARY 3, 1983.
TR-83-1
SUBJECT: T. MONTAGUE ESTATE-COMMUNITY HALL OF NEWCASTLE TRUST
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended:
1 . That this report be received, and
2. That Canada Permanent Trust Company be advised that Council is
willing to accept the corpus of the trust fund of the Thomas
Montague Estate; and further
3. That Council will invest those funds and use the income of those
investments for the benefit of the Community Hall of Newcastle
in accordance with the Will of the late Thomas Montague.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS:
The Montague Trust is used for capital repairs and additions to the Community
Hall in Newcastle. The balance of the bank account is $577.61. Earlier in
1982, $5,024.24 of the income receipts were used by the Community Hall Board
to purchase tables and chairs for the banquet hall .
There is no reason why these trust funds cannot be administered by the Town.
The funds will be separately designated and there will be no impairment of
the funds available to the Hall Board for its use.
Since Canada Permanent Trust has made the request (letter attached) , we should
proceed with the transfer forthwith.
Respectfully submitted,
Kathryn `A. Campbell , C.A. , B.Comm. ,
KAC:gf Treasurer.
