SUBJECT: SCOTT 2 .2 AIR PAKS
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report TR-82-91 be received;
2 . THAT a purchase order in an amount of $12, 121. 00
($2, 108.00 x 5 + G.S.T. + P.S.T. ) be issued to
Safety Supply Canada Ltd. , Richmond Hill, Ontario,
for the supply of five (5) only Scott 2 .2 Air Paks
(with donning switch) , as required by the Fire
Department; and
3 . THAT the funds be drawn from the Fire Department's
approved 1991 Capital Budget, Account #7102-00001-0520 .
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Funds in the amount of $30,000 . 00 were included in the 1991 Fire
Department Capital Budget, Account #7102-00001-0520 (as reflected on
page 108 of the Capital Budget) , for replacement of equipment,
$20,000 . 00 of which was allocated for Scott 2 .2 Air Paks .
Subsequently, Safety Supply Canada Ltd. , being the only Canadian
distributor (see attached letter from Scott Aviation, marked Schedule
"A" ) was requested to submit a quotation for the supply and delivery
of five (5) only Scott 2..2 Air Paks . The estimate provided is as per
Schedule "B" attached. Note, the Provincial Sales Tax and the Goods
and Services Tax are not included in the quoted price and are both
applicable.

SCOTT 2 .2 AIR PAKS
To ensure the utmost safety of the Firefighters, it is imperative that
the equipment used be standardized. As all of the Fire Department's
current breathing apparatus are Scott 2 .2 Air Paks (with donning
switch) , it is recommended that the proposal (Option A) from Safety
Supply Canada Ltd. , Richmond Hill, Ontario, be accepted.
The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs with
the recommendation. Queries with respect to department needs,
specifications, etc . , should be referred to the Fire Chief.
The subject firm have previously provided satisfactory service to the
Town of Newcastle.
