CEMETERIES
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. That Report TR-67-89 be received;
2 . That a purchase order in an approximate amount of
$25,000 . 00 be issued to G. Sloan Trucking Limited,
Lindsay, Ontario, for the restoration of various
monuments throughout the Bowmanville and Bond Head
Cemeteries, as required by the Department of
Community Services;
3 . That the procedures set out in the Purchasing By-Law
#82-2, Section 5, Paragraph 04, be waived for this
particular transaction; and
4 . That the funds be drawn from the Community Services
approved 1991 Capital Budget, Account #7402-X-0501.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Funds in the amount of $25,000 .00 were included in the 1991
Community Services Capital Budget, Account #7402-X-0501 (as
reflected on page 156 of the Capital Budget) , for restoration of
various monuments at both the Bowmanville and Bond Head
Cemeteries .

RESTORATION OF MONUMENTS - BOWMANVILLE AND BOND HEAD CEMETERIES
Subsequently, G. Sloan Trucking Limited, being the only known
area supplier of this service, was requested to submit an
estimate to provide the necessary repairs . The estimate provided
is as follows:
25 small stones - $416 .00 per stone $ 10,400. 00
25 large stones - $624 .00 per stone $ 15,600. 00
$ 26,000.00
Note, the Goods and Services Tax is not included in the above
estimate.
The above prices include new foundations, relevelling and
resetting each stone. Note, that these prices per stone are
estimates and may fluctuate, ie. small stones may require more or
less work, as well as the large stones . See proposal attached
marked Schedule "A" .
The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs
with the recommendation. Queries with respect to department
needs, specifications, etc. , should be referred to the Director
of Community Services.
After further review and analysis of the proposal by both
Community Services and Purchasing, it was mutually agreed that
G. Sloan Trucking Limited, Lindsay, Ontario, be recommended for
the contract award for the Restoration of Various Monuments
throughout the Bowmanville and Bond Head Cemeteries, in an amount
not to exceed $25,000 .00 .
The subject firm satisfactorily performed this service for the
Town of Newcastle in 1990.

stones throughout the Bowmanville and Bond Head Cemeterys .
These estimates are as fQ1101S :
25 small stones $416 . 00 per stone = $10,400 . 00
25 large stones - $624 . 00 per stone = $15 , 600 . 00
Please note C.S .T. is not included in above estimate .
The above prices include all labour. materials and equipment to
perform all necessary restoration work.
Please note some stones will require less work and will be
charged accordingly. Any stones that require more work will be
agreed upon first before work is commenced.
