SLMECT: TENDER NW91-221 CORRUGATED STEEL CULVERT
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1 . That Report TR-52-91 be received;
2 . That Atlantic Industries Ltd. , Ayr, Ontario, with a
total bid in the amount of $54,248 .56, being the
lowest responsible bidder meeting all terms, conditions
and specifications of Tender NW91-22, be awarded the
contract for the supply and delivery of Corrugated Steel
Culvert, "as required" for 1991 by the Department of
Public Works; and
3 . That the funds be drawn from the approved 1991 Culvert
Maintenance Construction budget.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Tenders were publicly advertised and invited for the supply and
delivery of Rivetted Corrugated Steel Pipe Culvert as required by the
Department of Public Works for 1991.
Subsequently, bids were received and tabulated as per Schedule "A"
attached.
The required funds will be drawn from the approved 1991 Culvert
Maintenance Construction budget, from which there are adequate funds
available. The Treasurer .has reviewed the funding requirements and
concurs with the recommendation. Queries with respect to department
needs, specifications, etc . , should be referred to the Director of
Public Works .

The tendered prices for culverts represents approximately a six
percent (6%) increase over the 1990 prices . This increase is a direct
result of the seven percent (7%) Goods and Services Tax, as culvert
was previously exempt from the Federal Sales Tax.
After further review and analysis of the tenders by Public Works and
Purchasing, it was mutually agreed that Atlantic Industries Ltd. , Ayr,
Ontario, be recommended for the contract to supply and deliver
culverts to the Town of Newcastle for 1991.
Although the subject firm have not previously supplied the Town of
Newcastle, they have satisfactorily supplied the Town of Whitby, as
well as the Regional Municipality of Durham.
