RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. That Report TR-50-91 be received;
2 . That R & M Construction, A Division of 560789 Ontario
Ltd. , Acton, Ontario, with a bid in the amount of
$34,229 . 30, being the lowest responsible bidder meeting
all terms, conditions and specifications of Tender
NW91-23, be awarded the contract, for Soper Creek
Erosion, as required by the Department of Community
Services; and
3 . That the required funds in the amount of $34,229 .30 be
drawn from the Community Services 1991 Capital Budget,
Account #7603-00001-0516 .
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Tenders were publicly advertised and issued for Soper Creek
Erosion, as required by the Department of Community Services.
Subsequently, tenders were received and tabulated as per Schedule
"A" attached.
The required funds will be drawn from the Community Services
Capital Budget, Account #7603-00001-0516 and are within the
$45,000. 00 allocated for this project. Note, the total required
funds of $34,229 . 30 are an approximate cost only based on an
estimated quantity of 70 linear meters of armour stone required.
Should the actual quantity required be more or less than 70
meters, the price will be adjusted accordingly.

The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs
with the recommendation. Queries with respect to department
needs, specifications, etc. , should be referred to the Director
of Community Services.
After further review and analysis of the bids by Purchasing and
Community Services, it was mutually agreed that R & M
Construction, A Division of 560789 Ontario Ltd. , Acton, Ontario,
be recommended for the contract for Soper Creek Erosion.
The subject firm have previously performed satisfactorily for the
Town of Newcastle.
