CO-OPERATIVE TENDER WD38-91, SUPPLY, RETREADING AND
REPAIR OF TIRES AND TUBES
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. That Report TR-46-91 be received;
2 . That J & M Tire Sales Inc. , Oshawa, Ontario, being the
lowest responsible bidder meeting all terms, conditions
and specifications of the Regional Municipality of
Durham Co-Operative Tender WD38-91, be awarded the
contract, in an approximate value of $15,000.00
for the Supply, Retreading and Repair of Tires and
Tubes to the Town of Newcastle, as required by the
Department of Public Works; and
3 . That the funds be drawn from the various Public Works
approved 1991 Fleet Accounts.
BACKGROUND AND C0101ENT:
Tenders were called on a Co-Operative basis by the Regional
Municipality of Durham, which included the requirements of the
Town of Newcastle.
As the Co-Operative Tender does not break down the requirements
of the individual participating Municipalities, but rather lists
individual tire sizes, a separate total bid price for each
participating Municipality, is not available. However, the Town
of Newcastle's annual requirements have been estimated at
$15,000. 00 .

For the information of Council, a total of two (2) bids were
received as follows:

The unit prices tendered represent an average six percent (6%)
decrease, dependent on the tire size, over those tendered for the
1990 contract.
The funds required will be drawn from the various Public Works
approved 1991 Fleet Accounts.
The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs
with the recommendation. Queries with respect to department
needs, specifications, etc. , should be referred to the Director
of Public Works .
After further review and analysis of the bids by Purchasing and
Public Works staff, it was mutually agreed that J & M Tire Sales
Inc . , Oshawa, Ontario, be recommended for the contract for the
Supply, Retreading and Repair of Tires and Tubes to the Town of
Newcastle, as required by the Department of Public Works .
