SUB,ECT.. TENDER NW91-19, REPAIRS TO ORONO SWIMMING AND WADING POOLS
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. That Report TR-41-91 be received;
2 . That S & T General Sandblasting, Claremont, Ontario,
with a total bid in the amount of $20,431 . 15 (Bid
$16,718 .75 + $2,600.00 deck repairs + $1, 112 .40 repairs
to coping stone = $20,431. 15) , being the lowest
responsible bidder meeting all terms, conditions and
specifications of Tender NW91-19, be awarded the
contract for the repairs to Orono Swimming and Wading
Pools; and
3. That the funds be drawn from the 1991 approved
Community Services Capital budget, Account
#7607-00003-0501.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Tenders were issued and .publicly advertised in all four (4) area
newspapers for the Repairs to the Orono Swimming and Wading
Pools, as required by the Department of Community Services .

Subsequently, tenders were received and tabulated as follows:

Quoted as an addition to the total bid price were the replacement of
any necessary coping stone as well as repairs to the decking
surrounding the swimming pool. It is recommended that these repairs
be included with this contract at an additional cost of $3,712 .00
($1, 112 .40 coping stone + $2,600. 00 deck repairs) .
The required funds will be drawn from the approved 1991 Community
Services Budget, Account #7607-00003-0501 and are well within the
$25,000. 00 allocated for this project.
The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs with
the recommendation. Queries with respect to department needs,
specifications, etc. , should be referred to the Director of Community
Services .
After further review and analysis of the bids by Purchasing and
Community Services, it was mutually agreed that the low bidder, S & T
Sandblasting, Claremont, Ontario, be recommended for the contract for
the repairs to the Orono Swimming and Wading Pools .
The subject firm have not previously performed for the Town of
Newcastle, however, the references provided have been contacted and
each maintains that excellent service was provided.
